Pin-Type Rubber Barrel & Screw

Pins projecting into the channel continuously split and recombine the compound. That improves dispersion and, just as important, keeps the melt temperature down — which is what lets you run faster without scorching.

We machine the pin holes to your pattern and supply the screw with interrupted flights to match, so the pins pass cleanly through the channel.

Applications for This Rubber Screw Barrel

Common Questions

Questions Buyers Ask About This Product

Why pins instead of a longer screw?

Pins mix without adding shear heat, so you get dispersion without pushing the compound towards scorch.

Can I retrofit pins to my barrel?

Not practically — a pin barrel is a different design. A replacement set is the route.

How many pins do I need?

It depends on compound and output. Tell us both and we specify the layout.
